Kitchen shears
Wreak havoc on old memories
On philosophies
And company
Best forgotten.

Only a fool would look back
At all those slices of the past
Laying about on the floor
And I’m no fool.

All the black and white begins to blur
Into a solid and unsympathetic grey
Arms turn into a cage
Holding my soul captive
Until it’s released
By the sound of ocean waves
Over a long distance connection.

Black wings spread and soar
Over a green neverending sky
With both a moon and a sun in it
And the only cloud in it
Is a beautiful tawny
That scuttles across the wide green pasture
Of that open sky.

The starkness of the sounds
Those shredded memories make
Those dying screams as I shut my ears
Sober my heart,
And let it fill with joy for the first time in
Gods only know how long….

And I watch
Without mercy
As kitchen shears
Wreak havoc
On old memories
And a life
Best put behind us.
A poem for two of my friends...who've found each other. Only they'll recognize the imagery, but I hope it gets through to both of them that I care deeply about them and hope for a long happiness.

Lovely! This one speaks out a lot, saying, "Hey, shit happens but we're gonna be fine in the end." You're right, we shouldn't dwell on things of the past. I try not to most of the time, but with recent events... Well, you know. I know you know. I know how you feel about the situation.

IKNOWIKNOW.

But anyway, it's nice to read something from you that's not completely depressive. I think you should write stuff like this more often.
